The Stranger Things prequel unveils its teaser and promises to be "essential" for the final season

“8 films”: season 5 of Stranger Things will be really very long

Actress Maya Hawke reveals why filming the final season is taking so long.

We are halfway through, apparently, filming the final season of Stranger Things. During a recent podcast, the actress Maya Hawkewho plays Robin in the Netflix series, confirms that production on season 5 – which began on January 8, 2024 – will span an entire year.

Uma Thurman’s daughter then clarified that if filming is taking so long, it’s because the eight upcoming episodes will be very long!

“We’re basically making eight movies! The episodes in season 5 are going to be really long!”

We understand, therefore, that each episode will be about the length of a feature film, certainly around 1h20, as was the case during season 4 (while the episodes of the first three seasons were rather 50 minutes on average) of which the grand finale even lasted nearly 2h30!

The actress also admits that a whole year represents a big commitment on the part of the cast, which is now ” very implicated ” in the production and the end of the story.”We all take a great deal of responsibility for the final product.” She concludes: “The Duffers are very intense and very serious about the quality of the writing, which goes on and on. And so it takes a long time to write and a long time to shoot them…”

This season 5 of Stranger Things will not be released until 2025 on Netflix.
