A historian deciphers the new trailer for Napoleon

Is Ridley Scott’s film faithful to historical reality?

Her first video was a great success (more than 800,000 views last July), so she did it again for the second trailer for Napoleon, unveiled this week. The historian Émilie Robbe, referent for Napoleonic history at the Musée de l’Armée, deciphers the objects and settings that we see in the new images from the film Ridley Scottand compares them to real pieces from the Museum, as well as to the paintings which directly inspired certain plans.

History buffs rest assured. From clothes to uniforms, including the various objects (glasses, saber, necklace, etc.) worn or used by Joaquin Phoenix on the screen, and even up to the famous horse the Emperor, this Napoleon looks particularly faithful to reality. And Émilie Robbe is already giving us an appointment for an upcoming decryption video, which will be published after the release of the film, on November 22 at the cinema.
