A live action Nicky Larson made in Japan is coming to Netflix (teaser)

This is not a new film by Philippe Lacheau, but a martial arts film designed by a Japanese team.

Formerly invoked in Club Dorothée, the iconic manga of the 90s Nicky Larson continues to reinvent itself over the years and through the media. Books, series and animated films have flourished, including a live action adaptation initiated by the Fifi gang (Nicky Larson and the Scent of Cupid available on FirstMax). Today, a new project intends to immerse itself in the Netflix catalog.

For the first time, it is a Japanese film bearing the image of the leading investigator, in real shots, which will see the light of day. This new version promises to be more faithful to the manga. In this first teaser, we can see the protagonist Ryo Saeba wandering the streets of the Shinjuku district in Tokyo, on the lookout for the city's beautiful creatures and all the threats that overlook the environment…

Japanese actor Ryohei Suzuki plays the formidable detective with irrepressible seductive tendencies, he will certainly be accompanied by his teammate Kaori Makimura (Misato Morita), who will know how to reframe his partner with a club.

“I am thrilled to play Ryo Saeba and feel a great responsibility to portray this legendary and beloved character created by Tsukasa Hojo,” comments Ryohei Suzuki. “I can't wait for fans of Ryo Saeba to experience his fun, action-packed adventures in modern Tokyo. Our goal is to strike the right balance between realism and fantasy, as well as tones of the 80s and today hui”, also said Ryohei Suzuki.

Highly anticipated by early fans, the feature film directed by Yuchi Satô will be available on April 25, 2024 exclusively on the streaming platform Netflix.
