A Matthew Perry biopic… with Zac Efron as the former Friends guy?
The two actors met for another 17 years, in 2009.
Lately, Matthew Perry said: “When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing mentioned about me. I want to be remembered for my fight to help others deal with addiction.”
Thus, we learn that the actor was preparing a film about his life, just before his death. His friend Athenna Crosby, who had lunch with him the day before his death, told Entertainment Tonight Canada that Perry wanted to make a biopic about him and had the idea of asking Zac Efron to play his role.
“He said he wanted to make a movie about his life. And he had already worked with Zac Efron on a movie and he wanted Zac Efron to play Matthew in a younger version. He was going to ask him to do it soon.”
The idea for the feature film was to talk about his long battle with alcohol and drugs. “He just couldn’t wait to share more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really champion this cause to help more people. He was very optimistic and happy with all these plans he had in mind.”
Zac Efron already played Matthew Perry young, in fantasy comedy 17 years again. In this film, the character of Matthew Perry found himself in the body of a 17 year old teenager. The comedy was a box office success, grossing $139.5 million. We do not know if this biopic project on the life of the former Friends will now be done.
