A Star Wars series without a laser gun? It is possible and it will be The Acolyte!

“If you liked that sequence between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Darth Maul at the end of The Phantom Menace, you’ll love our series”!

If we look forward to discovering Ahsokaat the end of the summer, Disney Plus is actively developing its next series Star Warsto know The Acolyte. A new live action series that will explore the dark side like never before in the saga. Or how the Sith returned to the Galaxy far, far away. For the first time, the story will take us to the heart of the High Republic, during the height of the Jedi Order, a century before The Phantom Menace. With the star of Squid Game, Lee Jung-jaein Jedi Master and Carie-Anne Moss in a mystical figure.

By their side, the three heroes of The Acolyte will be played by the former girl of Logan, Dafne Keenas well as Manny Jacinto And Charlie Barnett. They let EW know what to expect from this dive into the past of Star Wars. And already: there will be lightsabers! Lots of lightsabers! Again and again fighting lightsabers ! Keen and Jacinto tease:

If you liked that sequence between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Darth Maul at the end of The Phantom Menace, you’ll love our series!’

Charlie Barnett insists that the series will feature “tangible physical movements. We did a lot of stunt training“. He suggests in the process that the special effects will not be omnipresent in these fights: “We have an awesome stunt team. They do crazy things without hanging on wires, without CGI, without a lot of effects. It makes the fight so much more visceral. Even I took a few blows to the head several times.

Daphne Keen immediately announces that lightsabers will be everywhere:

I don’t know if I can reveal it, but I’ll say it anyway: there are very few pistols in this series. Me who loves fights, stunts and everything, I love it. Because this series leans towards a body-to-body choreography. We are in a dance. It actually looks like real fights. We don’t just aim and shoot to get out of a situation! We do a lot of this melee (…) We have a lot of lightsabers!”

Star Wars: The Acolyte will launch in 2024 on Disney Plus.
