Adam Driver will no longer play Kylo Ren: “Star Wars exhausted me too much…”

Unlike Daisy Ridley, the actor will not participate in episode X of the saga.

The adventures in a galaxy far, far away are far from over, as Star Wars is preparing to return to the cinema after having conquered the small screen thanks to its multiple series. Daisy Ridleythe interpreter of Rey, heroine of the last trilogy, confirmed her presence in Star Wars: Episode X. However, his playing partner Adam Driverwho gave shape to Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, was clear in the podcast Smartless : “They’re doing something, but without me.”

“I don’t do that anymore”, continues the actor. Indeed, his role as antagonist in the final trilogy of one of the most cult SF sagas of all time propelled him to superstardom. “I hadn’t really understood the momentum of such a large plateau before. All the things I had been working on were pretty small and moving pretty quickly”, he explains to justify the dizziness he felt when faced with a role of this magnitude.

“Star Wars was too exhausting for me…I made it more exhausting than it should have been”, concedes Driver. He also confirms that he is done with the franchise simply because his character died a hero in the ninth episode. Although it’s common to resurrect a fan-favorite character in Star Wars, Adam Driver remains pragmatic. Ben Solo is dead and he will remain so.

Concerning episode X, it will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoydirector of the series Miss Marveland written by Steven Knightcreator of Peaky Blinders. The plot will take place after the events of Episode IX and we will follow Rey as she attempts to found a new Jedi Order. Two other films Star Wars are planned for cinemas, but none have a release date yet.
