After Kevin Costner, a new crisis within the cast of Yellowstone?

Paramount would like to bring back Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes in the new series, around Matthew McConaughey. But the negotiations seem complicated…

Again and again drama on the side of Yellowstone. The crisis within production seemed to have passed, since the departure of Kevin Costner was recorded. Yes, but that was without counting on the other members of the cast.

Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser And Luke Grimes are now demanding massive salary increases to continue playing Beth, Rip and Kayce, in the future series already validated by Paramount and by co-creator Taylor Sheridan, which will be carried by Matthew McConaughey.

Sheridan had not initially considered the trio within the spin-off. He wanted to start on a new basis, with another cast around McConaughey. Except that Paramount would prefer to have a few known faces, to attract fans of Yellowstone to this spin-off series. Taylor Sheridan accepted, but according to the American press, the actors would ask for massive increases to return to service!

Kelly Reilly would like $1.5 million per episode, Hauser would like 1.25 million (compared to $700,000 currently). The couple from the show also asked to appear at the top of the credits, above the lead Matthew McConaughey.

What makes the negotiation very delicate is that the three stars have a pay-or-play contract with Paramount, meaning that the studio must pay them their salaries for season 6… which will not happen, since it was canceled following Costner’s departure! Paramount and 101 Studios, which produce Yellowstone, would have suggested that this fee be paid to Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes during the filming of the new series. But of course, they refuse, since this money would be owed to them anyway…

Obviously, an ultimatum has been placed on the table: the studio gives the trio one week to accept the deal, or say goodbye to Yellowstone for good, at the end of season 5, part 2 of which will be broadcast in November 2024, in France on Paramount Plus!
