After Paw Patrol, Bob the Builder is coming to the cinema!

An animated film is in the works, with Jennifer Lopez as the works inspector.

Like Nickelodeon’s little dogs, which are now a hit on the big screen, the handyman and his animated plasticine equipment rocked our childhood. Good news for young fans of the animated series, Bob the BuilderZoé and their tools will take over the big screen in an animated feature film, which promises to be surprising.

According to Varietythe Mattel company will soon offer an animated feature film, produced by Jennifer Lopez. He’s the star of the musical film Where we come from, Anthony Ramoswho will double the site manager.

“For years, the characters of Bob the Builder have inspired young people around the world, comments Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Films (and therefore behind the big success of Barbie with Warner Bros.). A film about friends who work together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help overcome any obstacle in your path. Can we do it? Yes we can !”

The credits of the original series have punctuated the childhood of several generations:

The plot follows Roberto (aka Bob) to Puerto Rico for a major construction job. The feature film “will address issues affecting the island and delve deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Latin Caribbean nations and their people.” Felipe Vargas is attached to write the screenplay; no director has yet been announced.

“Pairing Anthony and Felipe’s brilliant vision for the story will capture this beloved character in a way that audiences who grew up with Bob will recognize and can be explored by younger audiences“, Brenner also said.

The original cartoon advocated mutual aid, generosity and joviality through a character who was always smiling, no matter how difficult the project. The British series from the 2000s was presented in more than thirty countries, dubbed in several languages: English, French, Spanish, Serbian, Swedish, Slovenian, German, Italian, Dutch, Hebrew, Hindi, Croatian, Bengali…

Bob the Builder joins a series of films from Mattel in development . In particular, the company is preparing a Hot Wheels spin-off from its toy car line, a live action film barney with Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and a feature film Polly Pocket with Lena Dunham. The company logically wishes to ride on the enormous success of barbieof Greta Gerwig. Distributed by Warner Bros, the film earned $1.4 billion at the box office and received eight Oscar nominations.
