Alice Isaaz and Roschy Zem, great reporters in Alive (trailer)

Alix Delaporte invokes her first professional orientation in a breathtaking film with a cast familiar to the general public.

Gabrielle joins a reporting program and tries to find her place with a team of experienced reporters familiar with high-risk field journalism. Despite the commitment of the editor-in-chief, Vincent (Roschdy Zem), the team is faced with the frantic pace of a profession that is constantly evolving.

In the same way that a journalist seeks the truth in his work, I seek to show the truth of the characters, I write to bring it out. The staging must then create and support this empathy“, declared the filmmaker Alix Delaporte about his new film, which is called Living.

Alix Delaporte has established itself at the forefront of the cinematographic scene thanks to its short film How do you brake on a descent? Then Angela and Tony (2010) with Grégory Gadebois And Clotilde Hesmewho both won the César for Most Promising Actor in 2012. The filmmaker once again invokes the alchemy of the two actors in The Last Hammer Blow (2014), a film with a soft and raw vibration.

This time, Alix Delaporte set his sights on one actress in particular: Alice Isaac who plays Gabrielle, 30 years old. In the press release, the director reflected on this choice:

From her first attempts, she amazed me. She had worked on the character beforehand and in three minutes, she showed me several aspects of it, some of which I had not considered. It’s a very special moment to experience. When you witness the almost lightning meeting of an actress and a character. She shows you that this role is made for her, at this time in her career.

This character marks an anchor point in the career of the filmmaker, who started out as a journalist-cameraman at the Capa agency.

An audiovisual press agency is a place that I know, a world that I could bring into existence and introduce people to. Between the great reporters and the journalists who produce shorter and more immediate content, there are tensions. It is a playground conducive to dramaturgy and which allows us to focus on secondary characters.

Living will be released in theaters on February 14, 2024.
