Already 1 million admissions for Monte-Cristo, 4 million for Vice-Versa 2!

The French box office is still dominated by the Pixar animated film, despite the excellent start of the adaptation of Alexandre Dumas with Pierre Niney.

Pierre Niney is still as popular as ever. A few weeks after the success of Fiascoon Netflix, it is in theaters that the actor is causing a sensation this week. In the shoes of the Count of Monte Cristo, It attracted nearly 1.2 million spectators in 628 theaters. An impressive first week (a little less since the film was released on Friday), which is better than The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan And Milady (1.007 million and 711,000 admissions in 2023, for their respective first weeks). It should be noted that the Fête du Cinéma which was held these days is certainly not for nothing in this success.

However, Monte Cristo can’t dethrone Inside Out 2. The Pixar film remains at the top of the French box office for the second week in a row. The sequel is already approaching 4 million cumulative admissions, after attracting nearly 2 million additional curious viewers these days. In the historical rankings, Inside Out 2 is already at the gates of the Top 10 of Pixar’s biggest successes in France, ahead of Monsters Inc. (3.5 million in 2002) and Finding Dory (3.5 million in 2016).

In this ranking, we note that comedy A little something extra remains in good shape. Still on the podium of the French box office after 9 weeks, Artus’ film has just passed the 8 million admissions mark and with 8.415 million spectators, it is slowly but surely approaching the Top 50 of the biggest successes of all time in France.

The other big news of the week, with Monte Cristobegan without making any noise. But A Quiet Place: Day 1 has nevertheless succeeded in its debut. With 400,000 tickets sold in its first week, the horror film is doing much better than the first two parts of the SF saga, which had 230,000 spectators at the same time.

In the rest of the ranking, we note that Yórgos Lánthimos did not know how to attract the crowds. His Kinds of Kindness is limited to 53,000 entries. Meanwhile, Bad Boys 4 has crossed the million mark. It is the 15th film of the year to pass this symbolic threshold at the French box office.
