Anatomy of a fall marks the best start to a Palme d’Or in 10 years

Four months after her victory on the Croisette, Justine Triet took out her Palme d’Or on Wednesday, Anatomy of a fall. A thriller co-written with his companion Arthur Harari (Onoda, 10,000 nights in the jungle). And it’s a success: on its first day, the film recorded nearly 50,000 admissions in 379 theaters. 47,007 precisely, and 55,382 by counting its previews.

With The Life of Adele – Chapters 1 and 2, Abdellatif Kechiche had attracted a million people to French cinemas, including 49,720 on the day of its release. Afterwards, I, Daniel Blake, by Ken Loach, approached one million in 2016, but had started with 36,811 admissions. And Parasitewhich intrigued 1.8 million French people in 2019, had been seen by 54,941 of them on the first day of operation (including 17,842 entries counted in preview).

Despite the controversy surrounding his committed speech at CannesJustine Triet should experience great success withc Anatomy of a fall, whose debut is undeniably high. The film also started at the top of the top “First day” Wednesday, far enough ahead of the thriller Hypnotic worn by Ben Affleck, seen by 26,326 curious people in 455 cinemas.
