Argylle has plenty of surprises in store: the trailer showed nothing, assures Matthew Vaughn

Argylle 2: sequels and a vast franchise in the sights of Matthew Vaughn

A spin-off series, with Louis Partridge reprising the role of Henry Cavill, is already in development.

Apart from the very pretty Stardust, the mystery of the star (2007), Matthew Vaughn is rather a man of frankness. Whether with Kick Ass (2 films), X-Men (2 films) or Kingsman (3 films), he’s not used to making a hit and then leaving. So the director ofArgyle already anticipates what happens next and Argyle 2. Yes, it is already in sight.

In an interview with Total Film, the English filmmaker confirms that if the first part, which has just been released in France in cinemas, is a hit, then there is a plan to make more films centered on the books written by the mysterious real-life author. Elly Conway. According to Vaughn, Conway’s future books should form the basis of the film’s sequels, which could even be a prequel, to tell the story of the spy’s younger years.

“The first book is about how Argylle became a spy. That gives us this first film. And then Argylle 2 – even if I don’t want to say too much – will revolve around a young Argylle, with Henry Cavill, who loves that idea.”

In Deadline, the filmmaker confirms his desire to work again with Henry Cavillas well as Sam Rockwell And Bryce Dallas Howard. Deadline reports that Vaughn’s production company, Marv Studios, has “various sequels and derivatives ofArgyle currently in development.

And not just sequels, since the director also hopes to produce a prequel series, on the spy played by Cavill. There is even already a casting announced: Louis Partridgeseen in Enola Holmes and who played Sid Vicious in the series Pistolshould embody this young version ofArgyle.

We are therefore perhaps on the verge of a vast franchise. The fact remains that all this is necessarily conditioned on the success of the film Argyle, which still cost Apple studios $200 million and which will be released in theaters this Friday in the United States. Nothing has yet been put into production and whatever happens, the saga will not return to our screens tomorrow, big or small.
