Argylle has plenty of surprises in store: the trailer showed nothing, assures Matthew Vaughn
The scenes teased from the spy film with Henry Cavill are all taken from its first half hour, explains its director.
On January 31, Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: The Beginning, Kingsman) will return with a new blockbuster mixing action, espionage and comedy. Argyle is carried by a huge cast: Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Sofia Boutella, Bryan Cranston… Stars who all appear in its trailer, unveiled in September .

Doesn’t this action-packed montage spoil too many elements of the film? According to its co-creator (because Argyle was written by Jason Fuchs, also on Minecraft the movie), absolutely not: Vaughn assures in the new Total Film that he kept plenty of very cool surprises for the public, and for good reason: this trailer would only have been designed from the first half hour of the film.
“The good news about this trailer is that it was made from the first 28 minutes ofArgylle, he explains. I was really impressed with the reaction of Universal and Apple when I asked them this. I told them : ‘I wish the trailer only drew on those 28 minutes at the beginning of the film, because there’s some really cool stuff after that, and it would be nice if we didn’t show it during the promo. We should give people a taste, so that they understand the tone of the film, its style and recognize its actors… then let them appreciate the great spectacle at the cinema.’“
Its producers have visibly accepted, and Matthew Vaughn says he is very happy with this trailer, which seems to give plenty of elements (we understand in particular that the real spy in the story will be played by Sam Rockwell, that of Henry Cavill having been born from the imagination of an author), but which would not spoil anything important. Vaughn is also clearly teasing other twists to come. After ArgyleMatthew Vaughn should return with a new opus of Kingsman, he previously revealed. He would also intend to relaunch another of his sagas, Kick-Ass.
