Back to basics for Riddick: Vin Diesel will shoot Furya at the end of summer

As promised, this film, still directed by David Twohy, will see the hero return to his planet.

Vin Diesel promised it last year, and now Riddick: Furya is confirmed. The SF saga started with Pitch Black (in 2000), continued with The Chronicles of Riddick (in 2004), and finally by Riddick (on screens in 2013), will continue with this fourth part, in which we should finally learn more about the hero's people and planet of origin. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that its filming should begin on August 26, in Europe: no planned visit to France, but to Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

At the controls, we will find David Twohy, the original director. Vin Diesel will therefore be the star and producer, via his company One Race Films. Riddick: Furya will logically take up the story of Richard B. Riddick, while he “finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and fears will be left in ruins by the Necromongers. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new enemy. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

For us, Metropolitan will be responsible for the distribution of this fourth opus in the saga. It should logically be released during 2025, or at the latest in 2026. By then, Vin Diesel will undoubtedly have found his key character from another saga, Dom Toretto from Fast & Furious ? The 11th and final opus must be directed by the Frenchman Louis Leterrier, as Fast Xbut this blockbuster having cost Universal a lot of moneyAnd its star having been accused of sexual assault after its release, its sequel is currently on standby. The director is currently preparing another sci-fi film, 11817, via Carrousel Studios, which he has just co-founded with Omar Sy and Thomas Benski.

Let's end with the promise made by David Twohy during the initial confirmation of the project:

“Our Legion fans have been demanding this for years, and now we are finally ready to honor their call to action with Riddick: Furya. My collaboration with Vin has lasted for 20 fruitful years, as together we have created three films, two video games, an anime production and comics for the Internet. This new big screen event will see a return to Riddick's homeworld, where we can finally explore Riddick's genesis.”
