Next month we will discover Faraway Downs, which revisits in six episodes the 2008 flop worn by Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

Fifteen later Australia, Baz Luhrmann returns to his country to Faraway Downsan epic epic that reprises his 2008 film – with Nicole Kidman And Hugh Jackman – to make it a six-episode mini-series.

On the occasion of its big preview in Sydney during the closing night of the next SXSW Festival (October 21), the director presents this new version ofAustralia :

“Which made me want to see again Australia to create Faraway Downs“It’s how episodic storytelling has been reinvigorated by the streaming world.” explain Baz Luhrmann for the festival. “With more than 600 km of film (2 million feet) made during the original shoot, my team and I had enormous material, plenty of material to revisit the central themes of the work.”

Australia already lasted almost three hours (165 minutes) and its XXL version, Faraway Downswill therefore be almost 6 hours.

We will find there Nicole Kidman as Lady Sarah Ashley, an English aristocrat who travels to Australia after the death of her husband to sell a cattle ranch in the outback. The property becomes the center of a dispute between a ruthless Australian cattle baron and Lady Sarah, who will fall in love with his cowboy, played by Hugh Jackman. The film was one of the worst critical flops of their respective careers, and limited to $200 million at the worldwide box office.

Faraway Downs will therefore try to correct the situation and remake history to save Australia. The mini-series will be broadcast on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in France, starting November 26.
