Before Fiasco, there was Five: a look back at the comedy by Pierre Niney, François Civil and Igor Gotesman

While their series is a hit on Netflix, the trio's comedy returns to Cstar.

If the shortcom Cast(s) marks the true beginnings of the trio, Pierre Niney, François Civil And Igor Gotesman marked an entire generation with Five. A pure Judd Apatow-style buddy comedy, with incredible situations, joints and sex, which attracted more than 700,000 spectators in theaters in 2016.

Directed and written by Gotesman, Five tells the story of five childhood friends (Margot Bancilhon and Idrissa Hanrot complete the club) who will finally be able to realize their dream: living in shared accommodation. Samuel (Pierre Niney), the richest of the group, offers to cover half of the rent so that they can move into a beautiful Haussmanian apartment and lead the good life.

Problem is, his father cuts him off when he discovers that he is pretending to study medicine. Timothée (François Civil), the stoner of the group, then decides to get into cannabis trafficking. The beginning of the troubles…

iasco on Netflix: A delightful boxon (review)

Five is full of hilarious scenes, like the meeting of Niney and Civil who arrives with an improbable look at a drug seller (played by Heidi Bouchenafa fromPassing by), prefiguring the humor of Family Business Or Fiasco. But it sometimes lacks finesse, especially when the text heavily supports what we already see on the screen. This is the other side of the coin of humor cringethe discomfort is sometimes so strong that you want to stop watching!

Goodbye Five, eight years later, it's also a shot of nostalgia, and a little bit of old age. When we see the journey of these three, each of whom is a hit in their field and still finds the pleasure of meeting again, we say to ourselves that this comedy, despite its faults, was the birth of a movement of which we have not yet finished hearing about it.
