Fully rooted in science fiction made in FranceTHE Lastman of Jérémie Périn resonates with the Mutafukaz of Run, a comic strip itself adapted into an animated feature film. The two works have in common that they combine combat scenes and horrific science fiction, but they are also urban thrillers steeped in pulp culture and conspiracy. Lastman is in fact much more unclassifiable than Mars Express, which through its simple poster makes its theme and genre, namely cyberpunk, clear.

Jérémie Périn is supported by a loyal team: the head of writing, Laurent Sarfati, is also the co-writer of Mars Express; the production company, Everybody on Deck, is the same for both projects. The composer duo Fred Avril And Philippe Monthaye also signed the original soundtracks of Lastman and of Mars Express, recognizable by their very 80’s synthetic atmosphere. The series is finished and the entire two seasons are available for free on the France TV website. So to understand who is Jérémie Périn and discover the evolution of its animation, dive alongside Richard Aldana into the crazy and violent universe of Lastman.
