Filming of the Blade Runner 2099 series will finally begin, with a new director

Blade Runner 2099, starring Michelle Yeoh, will begin filming in June

The series included in the film saga will be visible on the Prime Video platform.

Seven years after the release of Blade Runner 2049 in the cinema, the SF saga adapted from Philip K. Dick will continue on the small screen. Announced for a long time, the series Blade Runner 2099 will finally go on filming. Collider has learned that production is finally underway and that filming will actually begin next June. It will be held in Prague and Spain.

The production of the series Blade Runner 2099 will run through December, and will continue the franchise with a new headliner. Michelle YeohOscar winner for Everything Everywhere All at Oncewill succeed Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.

Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1982 film, will still serve as producer. And Michael Greenwho co-wrote the screenplay for Blade Runner 2049, will also be executive producer, to guarantee continuity in the storytelling. The story of Blade Runner 2099 is shrouded in mystery and we just know that it will take place 50 years later.

Silka Luisaknown for her work on Shining Girls, will be the showrunner. We know that Jonathan van Tullekenwho directed the first two episodes of Shogun recently, will direct the first episodes of the series. No release date yet. Blade Runner 2099 will be seen on the Prime Video platform.
