Bob Marley achieves the best start of the year 2024 in France

200,000 admissions for its first day in theaters, the biopic is a hit.

Kingsley Ben-Adir Bob Marley made French spectators jam. The biopic of the legendary Jamaican got off to a roaring start, with 197,950 admissions for its first day in theaters (including 52,216 preview admissions), the best start of the year 2024 so far.

The film directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green does as well as the biopic devoted to Queen, Bohemian Rhapsodyin 2018 (also 197,000 entries) underlines the distributor, who notes that one Love makes a better start than Wonka (+7%) last December, knowing that Timothée Chalamet is now approaching 4 million admissions in France.

The film about Bob Marley is closely followed by Retirement home 2. Kev Adams and his seniors have 187,000 spectators, a score driven by the numerous previews (136,000 AVP).

On the podium, we find the family comedy Dog and catwhich has 80,000 entries for its first day.

Finally, Madame WebSony’s latest Marvel, is lagging behind with only 40,000 French fans attracted to the web.
