Bob Marley stronger than Kev Adams and Marvel at the French box office

The biopic One Love takes the lead and does better than Retirement Home 2 or Madame Web.

More than forty years after his disappearance, Bob Marley is still popular. The reggae legend dominates the North American box office, but also the French box office. For its first week in theaters, the biopic one Love attracted 772,865 spectators, an excellent score which already promises the film to be one of the great successes of the year 2024.

Kev Adams is not far behind, in its Retirement Home 2. His comedy attracted 526,067 spectators (helped by numerous previews). A score however down compared to the launch of the first part: Retirement home had sold 663,000 tickets in 2022.

The national box office podium is completed by Cororico. Didier Bourdon and Christian Clavier have added 400,000 spectators and are already approaching a million entries. An attendance just as spectacular as for Preservethe other farce carried by Didier Bourdon at the start of the year and which ended with almost 2 million spectators.

French comedy is definitely doing very well in 2024, with the family film Dog and catwhich has accumulated 314,952 admissions for its first week in theaters.

The film of Reem Kherici worn by Philippe Lacheau does much better than Madame Web. Sony’s new Marvel hasn’t convinced superhero fans to return to theaters. With only 208,000 curious people, the heroine carried by Dakota Johnson is half as good as the previous opus of the franchise, Morbius. Jared Leto attracted 400,000 French people to cinemas in the first week and finished under 800,000 tickets. A score that Madame Web will certainly not reach.
