Bradley Cooper would rather win the Super Bowl than win an Oscar for Maestro!

“I’m not lying!” swears the actor and director, who is a big Eagles fan.

In the middle of a promotional tour for his next film Maestroa biopic about the composer Leonard Bernstein which he interprets and directs, Bradley Cooper found himself answering a dilemma in a completely unexpected way. Invited to the microphone of Howard Stern, star American radio host, he asked him the following question: “You won the Oscar, not only for Best Director, but also Best Actor and Carey Mulligan wins Best Actress, or the Eagles win the Super Bowl ?”

Stern is referring to the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the American football teams in the National League and competing for the Super Bowl, one of the most watched and followed sporting competitions in the world. To this question, Bradley Cooper answers without hesitation: “An Eagles victory in the Super Bowl.” Shocked by this response, the radio host begins by protesting but the star confirms: “I do not lie !”

His connection to the Philadelphia team goes back to the movie happiness therapy in 2012, in which his character is an Eagles fan. He has since become friends with their ex-coach and no longer misses a single match of his favorites. Having narrowly missed out on the Oscar for Best Director for A Star is Born in 2018, Bradley Cooper had felt “embarrassed” faced with this defeat, explaining that he had the impression “for not having done your part”. Maestro is well on its way in the Oscar race with all the ingredients to win a statuette: actors transcended by their role, a grandiose subject and a warm welcome at the Venice Film Festival.

Maestro tells the unique life and career of the composer Leonard Bernsteinas well as his love story with his wife Felicia Montealegre, played by Carey Mulligan. Matt Bomer, Sarah Silverman And Maya Hawk are also part of the cast. Maestro will be available for streaming on Netflix from December 20, 2023.
