Brian Cox thought he would be the new villain of the next James Bond… it’s reality TV!

“I always wanted to play a Bond villain.”

Two years later Dying can wait, James Bond is back… or almost. Amazon, which bought MGM and therefore the license for Her Majesty’s Secret Agent, is released today on Prime Video 007: Road to a Million.

In the casting, we find Brian Cox as conductor of what is neither a series nor a film, but a stamped reality TV James Bond. “They paid me a huge amount of money to do that and it’s still motivating.” replies the British actor, star of Successionwhen Variety asked him why he accepted this job as an animator, far from his Shakespearean roots.

Money, but not only that. Brian Cox always wanted to join the 007 franchise and when Amazon made him this offer, he thought he was going to play the villain in the next feature film: “I thought, ‘Oh, 007, finally.’ But I should have realized that the new James Bond hadn’t been cast yet, so why would they cast the villain already? I thought this was going to be my big moment playing a Bond villain. Because I always wanted to play a Bond villain.”

Brian Cox did not hesitate to share this amusing anecdote – although a little embarrassing nonetheless – on the set of Jimmy Fallon.

In 007: Road to a Millionthe Logan Roy of Succession will put himself behind the screens, in the shoes of the “Controller”. A character, all the same, manipulative in this adventure game show in which nine pairs of strangers will embark on an epic adventure across the world and challenges inspired by the films James Bond.
