Chris Hemsworth talks about his 'pretty awful' character in Furiosa

This new installment of Mad Max, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, introduces the character of Dementus.

In the prequel and spin-off of Fury Road, Anya Taylor-Joy succeeds Charlize Theron in the role of Furiosa. But the actress will not be the only one to make her entry into the chrome universe. After Avengers, Men in Black And Ghostbusters, Chris Hemsworth will soon debut in the franchise George Miller. In this fifth opus, the Australian actor lends his features to Warlord Dementusand even if we don't know much more about his character, his nickname suggests the worst (“the demented warlord”). The actor confirms this first intuition:

“He's a pretty horrible individual. he confides to Empire. Throughout the film, we kept coming back to this question: 'This is wickedness, but what is the intention behind his actions?'. This is not just sadistic madness. There’s a real goal, the gears are set in motion, he’s plotting and planning, all ten steps ahead of everyone else.”

Furiosa will be “a different animal from Fury Road”, taking place over 15 years

The actor also gives some clues about the importance of the character by revealing some information about his relationship with Furiosa herself: “I think, from his point of view, there is a fatherly aspect to this relationship. Of course, (Furiosa) would give his life to make people believe otherwise”.

But who says Mad Max especially called an unusual car. In this universe, show me your mount, I will tell you who you are. The introduction of new characters allowed George Miller to imagine new models. Of the improved motorcycle he created for Hemsworth, he says: “The trolley bike is the craziest thing I've ever ridden, and I loved every second of it”. A statement that promises particularly spectacular scenery and stunts, in the vein of Fury Roador perhaps even more impressive.

Mad Max: Furiosa will be released on May 22, 2024 in cinemas.

The films expected at Cannes 2024: Furiosa, Emmanuelle, Megalopolis, L'Amour ouf, The Shrouds, Limonov…
