Conan the Barbarian re-releases in 4K in a collector’s box

The two films from 1982 and 1984 with Arnold Schwarzenegger will be accompanied by new bonuses.

Blood will flow! Conan the Barbarian (John Milius1982) and its sequel Conan the Destroyer (Richard Fleischer1984) will be published in a brand new collector’s box The Conan Chronicles in limited edition. The Cimmerian is the role that propelled Arnold Schwarzenegger into a global superstar and Arrow Films, the publisher of the box set, offers a brand new 4K restoration from the negatives of the two blockbusters.

Conan the Barbarian will be available in three different versions: the 127-minute cinema version, the “international cut” of 129 minutes as well as the long version of 130 minutes. The image is accompanied by the sound, the two films benefit from an audio restoration remixed in Dolby Atmos. Numerous bonuses are also available: original audio commentaries from the directors John Milius And Richard Fleisher, but also previously unpublished comments by film historian Paul M. Sammon.

Personalities from the cinema were specially interviewed for the occasion such as artistic director William Stout, costume designer John Bloomfield, Colin Arthur and Ron Hone in charge of special effects, animators Peter Kuran and Katherine Kean as well as the director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Northman) and authors John Walsh (Conan the Barbarian: the story of a cult film) and Alfio Leotto. The box set also includes the documentary Conan Unchained: The Making of Conandating from 2000.

This is just a sample of the impressive number of interviews and participations from the film team, specialists on the subject or other cinema personalities. Obviously, as a collector’s box, it contains double-sided posters of the two films, twelve double-sided collector’s postcards as well as an illustrated booklet. The safe The Conan Chronicles is published by Arrow Films and will be released on January 16, 2024. It is already available for pre-order.
