David Tennant in a new Disney+ series: Rivals trailer

A wild drama set in the social elite of 1980s England.

THE Doctor Who fan favorite, brilliant in Good Omens or at Marvel in Jessica Joneswill make its return to the small screen. David Tennant will be the star of a crazy new British series. A drama in the 1980s, which will be called Rivals and which was created for Disney Plus.

It will be an eight-part adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s 1988 novel, set against the backdrop of the excesses of the social elite in England at the time. Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell), a former Olympic athlete turned MP, is “an incorrigible and dangerously charismatic rake.” He will face Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant), the boss of Corinium Television and Rupert’s resolutely ambitious and selfish enemy.

Aidan Turner (Poldark) is also announced in the casting. Rivals will be released in 2024 on Disney Plus. No date announced yet. Watch the trailer:
