Beetlejuice is 35 years old: did you say cult?

“Day O” will be heard again in Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, reveals Catherine O'Hara

The actress teases her return to Tim Burton alongside Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega. “Such a cool young actress,” she comments.

36 years after its theatrical release Beetlejuice, Tim Burton will finally release its sequel. Because if there was regular talk of moving on during his career, the director ultimately worked on dozens of other projects before being able to return to this gothic-funny universe. For example, we escaped a sequel in the 1990s, set in Hawaii on the ruins of a voodoo cemetery, or a version by Seth Graham-Smith, who would have dreamed of finding the filmmaker after Dark Shadows (2012).

It was ultimately Alfred Gough and Miles Millard who signed with Warner Bros. for writing BeetlejuiceBeetlejuicefollowing the success of their series Wednesday for Netflix.

Precisely, Jenna Ortega will be the new heroine of the film, Astrid Deetz, child of Lydia (Winona Ryder) and granddaughter of the crazy artist Delia, played by Catherine O'Hara in the 1988 film. Both return, as does Michael Keaton as a bio-exorcist. And a famous tune of Harry Belafonte on the soundtrack, obviously.

Beetlejuice can be seen again on Première Max

The leading actress of Schitt's Creek revealed in the podcast Let's Talk Off Camera that 'Day O' will be good in the film“, with reference to the famous meal scene where all the guests suddenly start dancing to this calypso rhythm, bewitched by a supernatural force which pushes them to sway their hips in spite of themselves.

A cult scene which will therefore have an echo in this new film scheduled for September 11 at the cinema. As “Jump in the Line”, another song by the singer used at the very end of the first film? O'Hara says nothing more for the moment, but it's possible: this same sequence has already inspired the teaser poster of this sequel.

Being careful not to spoil anything Beetlejuice, Beetlejuicethe actress simply wanted to talk about her joy at finding Tim Burton, but also the actors from the first opus, for this new episode.

“It was so fun, really sweet, she says. Seeing Michael Keaton so happy to be there, and Jenna, who is such a cool young girl. And there was Winona, who didn't change at all…”
