Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds begs fans not to spoil filming anymore

“Surprises are part of the magic of a movie session,” regrets the star.

Update from December 7 at 4:30 p.m.: his post on “leaks” of Deadpool 3 having caused a lot of reaction, Ryan Reynolds hit the nail on the head with humor. “The story of Deadpool began with a leak, he writes on X. So I join you. But PLEASE don’t overuse formulas like ‘Deadpool leaks’ because it might screw up searches if anyone wants real leaks about the movie. same for me ‘Deapool spoilers’ Or ‘Deadpool scoops’.”

All with on-set images (retouched?) which reveal the Predator or Mickey Mouse at his side, or jokes towards the technical team (“Wally, pull up that sign!”). Without forgetting the famous banned hashtags, of course!

News from December 7 at 11:00 a.m.: There are many rumors about Deadpool 3, Shawn Levy’s blockbuster which will be released in theaters next summer. If it is certain that the superhero played by Ryan Reynolds will finally meet Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, it is also rumored that other incarnations of Logan will share the screen, that crazy cameos are planned, in particular the return of part of the X-Men from 2000 (like Halle Berry in Tornado, for example), or that Taylor Swift could make an appearance there. Not to mention the multiple photos and videos stolen from the set, which confirm suits, combat scenes or temporalities…

Spoilers are pouring in, so Reynolds decided to post a message directly to his fanson Instagramto ask to stop this kind of phenomenon.

“Surprises are part of the magic of a cinema screening,” he considers. “It’s important for us to film Dead Pool in real sets, natural environments, but also to use practical special effects instead of staging everything in the studio and digitally. Today’s powerful cameras continue to throw up surprises and this creates a difficult situation for everyone.

We hope that some websites and social media will refrain from sharing preview images. This film is designed to please audiences, so our greatest hope is to preserve as much of the magic as possible for the final film to experience on the big screen. We know that part of the reason people post spoilers is because they can’t wait to see the film. And I also realize that these are not problems on a global scale, that there are much worse and that we are talking here about ‘little hassle’. Anyway, I love designing this film.”

Will Ryan Reynolds’ message be heard? Some fans are already ironically pointing out the fact that without “spoilers”movies Dead Pool would perhaps not have seen the light of day. During the summer of 2014, a test video designed by Tim Miller leaked to Hollywood, and it was from this that Fox ended up becoming interested in the idea of relaunching Dead Pool in the form of an action comedy for adults (these films are R-Rated in the United States and number 3 will be too, even produced by Disney). Despite the actor’s disastrous first appearance in the same role in the first Wolverine prequel, the studio supported his idea and it paid off, with the first two Deadpools scoring big at the box office.

Reynolds has since never officially confirmed that he himself orchestrated the leak of this video, but he has played with the idea by publicly posting jokes about it. As in 2019, for example, by sharing this image accompanied by the comment: “We are five years into the investigation. Or rather what I call the ‘phase 5’ of our investigation. The fact is, I love conspiracy theories.” and the hashtag “It’s the anniversary of the leak.”

Ryan Reynolds can have all the cameos he wants to boost Deadpool 3

For the first two opuses, part of the filming could have been hidden by planning numerous scenes in the studio (Reynolds even had a 100% digital lining to avoid costly and dangerous stunts), but it is true that with the arrival of Shawn Levy at the helm, the team now favors outdoor shots and a minimum of green funds. Which could offer Deadpool 3 a certain authenticity, but which also attracts the paparazzi.

The film is expected in theaters on July 26, 2024.
