Deadpool & Wolverine: time jump and heartache, here is finally the pitch for this sequel

Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) has a new lover!

Shawn Levy completed post-production of Deadpool & Wolverine. This time, here it is, the long-awaited film Ryan Reynolds, and by fans of the crazy superhero of course, is in the box. The director will not touch it again before its theatrical release on July 24.

At the time of this announcement, Total Film published a special issue dedicated to the two Marvel superheroes, and in addition to detailing the dynamic between Deadpool and Wolverine, once again played by Hugh Jackmanto talk about their favorite superhero films (Reynolds loves Logan) or to tease the possibility of a new blockbuster devoted to Deadpool and Spider-Man, the actor duo and the director gave more details on the content of their super-film. Starting with a pitch explaining when precisely this sequence of events will take place. Dead Pool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).

“The action of Deadpool and Wolverine takes place six years after the last film, says the director. Wade proves he’s bad at selling cars, he takes drugs from Blind Al to pay his rent, and his beloved Vanessa has a new lover.”

It’s short, but intriguing: nothing is going well for Wade Wilson, obviously! In the first two opuses, Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin, was presented as his great love: they fell for each other, explored their unbridled sexuality together, then he seemed ready to do anything to save her… Even to live far from her for her protection? The treatment of this female character was, however, one of the weak points of the previous opus, with its overexploitation of the cliché of “the woman in the fridge” (our full review of Deadpool 2generally positive, is worth reading here). Did the team want to contrast with what fans expected from the evolution of this iconic Marvel couple?

All this is only the starting point of Deadpool 3where it should once again be a question of changes in temporality, according tothe different teasers where we see the two superheroes jumping in circles opening towards mysterious timelines. A good way for the team to play with the multiple adaptations of X-Men by 20th Century Fox, then by Marvel, to bring back former, very popular mutants, and even why not to show incarnations that we have not yet seen on the big screen. Could there be several Wolverines on the program? See you in theaters next month to find out more!
