Denis Villeneuve is one of the greatest living filmmakers, according to Austin Butler
The actor confides to Josh Brolin all his admiration for the director who directed him on Dune part 2.
During a discussion with the American actor Josh Brolin for the magazine Interview, Austin Butler underlined all the admiration he feels for Denis Villeneuve. The two actors share their views on cinema and the way they approach their roles in Dune 2. Josh Brolin asks Austin about his potential nervousness when he found out he was part of the cast.

“I’m still nervous. I still feel incredible pressure. I need to always give my best, even when it’s not necessary. I’m always afraid of missing out on something. For Dune, it was curious, I met Denis Villeneuve, and we got along quite quickly. We didn’t have a script yet but we were already talking about the character, Feyd. I quickly realized the terror of the challenge.”, confides the actor.
For Dune 2Austin Butler will step into the shoes of the terrible Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, nephew of the ruthless Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård). The young actor says he is proud to take up the (terrible) challenge of interpreting a villain with a more than atypical physique: for the occasion Austin Butler will be much less hairy than in Elvis.

“Denis is one of the greatest living directors. The idea of working with him delighted everyone. The thing about Denis is that when you present an idea to him, his mind will start to animate it, which will generate 10 new ideas. There is a mutual inspiration”, continues Austin Butler.
Denis Villeneuve’s inspiration will not be limited to Dune 2since a third part is already being written, as the director indicated to Empire. The 3rd film will be based on the second novel, titled Dune Messiah of Frank Herbert. “The ideal would be to create a trilogy”, he told the magazine.
Waiting for, Dune 2 will be released in theaters on March 13, 2024 in France.
