Designated Survivor actor Adan Canto dies at age 42
He also played a mutant in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
He was Kiefer Sutherland’s chief of staff at the White House, in the series Designated Survivor (on Netflix). Mexican-American actor Adan Canto died on January 8 after a battle with appendix cancer. He was 42 years old.
Before being the cynical but integrated Aaron Shore of Designated Survivor, Adan Canto had passed through Marvel, played the mutant Solar in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
In recent years, the actor played in The Cleaning Ladyleading male role opposite the Frenchwoman Elodie Yung for two seasons. His health did not allow him to participate in the production of the next season 3, which began last December.
The actress posted this tribute on her Instagram account, publishing this photo dating back to the day she met Canto for the first time.
The studio behind The Cleaning Lady also expresses his sorrow: “We are heartbroken to learn of the death ofAdan Canto. He was a wonderful actor and a dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. families. Television and Fox Entertainment since its US debut in The Following more than a decade ago. He lit up the screen in The Cleaning Lady with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability. This is an unfathomable loss and we mourn alongside his wife Stéphanie, their children and their loved ones. Adan will be greatly missed.”
