Deter: How long will Slash’s daily news last?

In the vein of Skam, the France.tv platform has just launched in streaming a brand new teen series with crazy ambition, this time anchored in the rural world.

After the phenomenon Skam Spread over 12 seasons, the France Télévisions Slash platform is releasing a brand new fiction aimed at a young audience and available on YouTube. Daily series with 7-minute episodes, Deter is a completely original creation. If Skam was taken from a Scandinavian concept, Deter is a format that is still completely new in Europe.

Produced by Black Sheep, it tells the story of an agricultural high school in Brittany, its students, its teachers, and others, with issues rooted in this territory. Filmed on location, in Vitré, in Ille-et-Vilaine, this new teen series aims to tell the story of today’s rural world and local youth, without the usual clichés, through this concept of episodes super short: “Skam being in the sequence. For us, these are real daily 7-minute episodes, with different narrative threads that intersect in each episode.specifies producer Augustin Bernard for Première.

Deter therefore offers a 7-minute episode every day on YouTube, from Monday to Friday, with a 35-minute “recap” episode at the end of the week.

And unlike Skam, the new series will last the entire school year, from October 2023 to July 2024, or 200 daily episodes in total. A massive production which is still underway in Brittany: “We have finished filming around 150 episodes, half of which are finished in editing. And we will be completely finished filming on November 24. Upon arrival, this will represent 160 days of filming in 8 sessions, carried out 50/50 between directors.“, underlines the producer.

And Deter see a little further. “The topics around the agricultural world are quite inexhaustible“, assures Augustin Bernard, who emphasizes that “Deter What’s more, it remains a teenage series, which talks about friendships, love, the future, etc.

And the series already knows how it wants to evolve: “More than operating through new generations, by introducing a new promo like in Skam, we would rather like to support those we have seen evolve, by bringing in new faces from time to time. Because our students can also go to BTS in this high school, after their professional baccalaureate and this would put the spotlight on professional sectors. We have installed an arena and a subject that allows us to consider the long term…”
