Dev Patel Goes John Wick Mode in Monkey Man Trailer

The actor directs his first film with Jordan Peele producing.

Dev Patel is only 33 years old, but an already immense career behind him. Revealed by the series Skins in 2007, the British actor instantly became a global star thanks to Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle, who won the Oscar for best film in 209. Since then, we have seen him in The Newsroom, Chappie, Lion, The Green Knight Or The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. A rather wise and authoritative journey, which Patel apparently wanted to dynamite.

In 2018, Dev Patel set out to become an action star. And the best part of achieving this was writing and directing the film that would change his image. This is how it was born Monkey Man, the story of Kid, a young man who takes part in clandestine fights wearing a monkey mask. Traumatized by the death of his mother, he is seeking revenge against the men who took everything from him. The explosive trailer that was revealed promises a violent film, but not devoid of humor.

Netflix had put 30 million dollars on the table to acquire this “John Wick in Bombay”. But, after seeing it, Jordan Peele decided the film deserved a theatrical release, and picked it up through his production company, Monkey Paw. Result, Monkey Man will arrive in American cinemas on April 5 via Universal (the French date remains to be determined).

Dev Patel will be joined by a cast including Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala (pictured below), Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte and Makarand Deshpande.
