The T-Rex is back in force: trailer for the new Jurassic World

Disagreement over Jurassic World 4, David Leitch will not direct the film

Universal still plans this blockbuster in summer 2025: the search for a replacement begins.

Deadline reveals that Jurassic World 4 lost its director, David Leitch. The man behind John Wick (with Chad Stahelski), to whom we also owe Deadpool 2 and more recently Bullet Train, was announced at the beginning of the month at the helm of the next blockbuster in the saga. He was supposed to take over the franchise from the hands of Colin Trevorrow, who was at the helm on the last trilogy, from a screenplay by David Koepp, who had adapted the work of Michael Crichton for Steven Spielberg, signing the first two opus of Jurassic Park (released in 1993 and 1997).

This announcement suggested that everything had gone well on The Fall Guythe action comedy adaptation of The Man Who Fallen by the same David Leitch, already for Universal. But just before revealing the new teaser for this film expected in theaters on May 1st, we learned that it would ultimately not direct Jurassic World 4. The source specifies that his departure is a decision taken after a “friendly discussion” with production.

Did this director, very focused on directing action sequences, have a different creative vision than his bosses? While waiting to know the details, the studio will have to find a replacement very quickly, since the release date of this new Jurassic World is already set for July 2, 2025. A fairly short deadline for this type of large production usually requiring a long post-production phase to design numerous visual effects.

Finally, note that Deadline speaks of a “reinvention” of Jurassic Parkspecifying that “Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard (the heroes of the most recent trilogy) are not expected in the casting. Neither are the actors from the original films, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dernet and Sam Neill.”
