Do you have to be up to date on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?

The sequel to Ryan Coogler’s great success will be offered this evening on Canal +. Première recommends it to you.

To keep it short, the answer is no. Good news, right? Let’s say that having seen Black Panther almost enough to appreciate the success Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It doesn’t seem like anything, but it was one of the problems of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Sadness : not only did you have to have seen Spider-Man: No Way Homebut also the series WandaVision (on Disney+) to fully grasp what was happening on the screen. This is obviously not a problem for the most dedicated Marvel fans who consume anything stamped with the studio logo. But for slightly more relaxed moviegoers who don’t necessarily have the time – and the desire – to binge around ten hours of small screen in addition to the big one so as not to be too overwhelmed by what should be the blockbuster of the season, which can be appreciated even if you only see a superhero film once a year.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saves the Marvel year (review)

30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and final part of Phase Four, Wakanda Forever is of course part of its continuity, without it stifling the film or making it dependent on your Disney+ subscription.

Connections with the series remain, of course: Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), super-spy who appeared in the series Falcon and the Winter Soldierin the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand who will be the boss of Thunderbolts (THE Suicide Squad of Marvel) which is scheduled for release in 2024. She plays a secondary but relatively important role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but without the ignorance of his character hindering the understanding of the film. So much the better.
