The director didn’t want to “screw up” the action franchise.

Netflix recently released its adaptation of Scott Pilgrim in animated series: Scott Pilgrim takes flight. Edgar Wright directed the 2010 film, adapted from the original comic strip. I thought ‘It’s awesome.‘”

He says that this is not the first time that he has refused proposals on this same argument, for fear of ruining a work of which he is already a fan: “I’ve experienced this many times throughout my career, where I’ve been asked to do episodes of my favorite TV series. Part of me, in the back of my mind, thinks ‘This show has been going strong without me for so long, so it’s not going to die without me.’”
