Everything except you is the new romantic film from Will Gluckto whom we owe Easy Girl (Easy A with Emma Stone, released in 2010) and Sex between friends (2011). After Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, it’s around Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria ; reality) And Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) to play a glamorous duo in front of the director’s camera.
The pitch for this new romantic comedy? Bea and Ben have everything they need to have a perfect romance. But following an incident during the first meeting, their story quickly falls apart. They meet by chance at the wedding of a mutual friend and decide to pretend to be a couple, which will not help their situation.
The trailer for Everything except you sets the tone with intense music which denotes the existing ambiguity between the two characters. The wedding being in Australia, the heavenly climate promises a holiday romance, during which the watchword is “I love you, neither”. Indeed, the first images reveal to us a Sydney Sweeney who hates Glen Powell… which makes him feel good. The marriage is likely to be long and laborious sprinkled with palpable tension.
