Everything we know about season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The showrunner explains the finale of season 1 and reveals the sequel entitled “The Book of Carol”, already in preparation.
The French adventures of Daryl Dixon are not quite finished. The finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonbroadcast this weekend in the United States on AMC, was only the finale of season 1. The series will continue with a season 2, already ordered and already launched.
What place for Carol in season 2?
It was revealed during New York Comic Con that it will be called The Book of Carol. Because yes, Carol Pelletier will be back full time. Melissa McBride will find Norman Reedus and the last moments of episode 6 already prove it: “You’ve seen how we’re trying to bring her back and continue her story in some way into the future.” showrunner David Zabel confirms to TVLine. “He never came home, so now she’s worried about him” he continues in EW. “And the radio call gave her at least a little clue on how to find him… For me, the main focus of season 2 was always Daryl and Carol’s return and what is that means ? And it ultimately becomes a story about how we, as people, can save each other. She tries to find him, but in doing so, how do they ultimately get to a place where they save each other?”
Is Laurent really the savior of Humanity?
Regarding Laurent, the “messiah” of the series, the screenwriter is deliberately ambiguous. Is he really a divine savior? “I don’t like performing for the audience. We try to clearly suggest things and stimulate the thoughts and feelings of the spectators. I don’t want to speak for them…” But is Laurent really “special”? “Yes. Me and many of the other writers on the team have a pretty clear idea of who Laurent is and what he represents“insists David Zabel.”The scenario as currently presented continues to revolve around this question. We’ll continue to dig in Season 2 and get closer and closer to the answer. Is he just a wonderful little boy who comes to embody the hopes and dreams of a people desperate to believe? Or more ?”
Season 2 will also focus on Genet, who now rules France. How did it happen ? Who is she exactly? “There will be an episode that will delve deeper into his story in a really exciting way. It will also take us back to the dawn of the apocalypse in France” confirms the showrwunner. In this context, the tampered zombies will be at the center of the plot: “We’re going to kind of delve deeper into what they’re doing with these walkers and why they’re doing it and how they’re trying to improve their experimentation.” Enough to make the connection with the other series Walking Dead and especially World Beyond, who had shown the first glimpse of these special zombies? “Yes, it’s a bit related to the finale of World Beyond, as there was the suggestion that something interesting was happening with French scientists on the cusp of the apocalypse. We don’t want to play around with that too much, but it certainly inspired our thinking.”
Daryl and Isabelle as a couple?
Will there be romance in season 2? Nothing is less certain knowing the biker. But Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) clearly asks him to stay at the end of season 1. There are feelings. Will they do anything with it? “It’s a good question”analyzes the showrunner in TVLine. “A deep bond has clearly formed between them over the course of the episodes and it deepened in Episode 6. They face conflict over what (their relationship) means for the future as they have different goals for the rest…”
Because Daryl is gone. He chose to return home even if it meant leaving Isabelle and Laurent behind. But the young boy followed him and while the adventurer was about to board a boat, he seemed to hesitate. Will he stay in France for season 2? “For me, Daryl’s moral dilemma is that he made another home by trying to get home! This is an interesting moral problem. He wants to find the people he loves, the people he cares about, namely Judith, Carol, Connie and all those people. Except that along the way, inadvertently – almost against his own will – he created this kind of family in France. It’s an insoluble problem but it’s a beautiful thing and it says a lot about who Daryl is.“
What date for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon ?
Still, we won’t see that right away. Production on season 2 was slowed by the writers’ strike. Filming for season 2 is due to resume in France in the coming days, after several sequences were filmed elsewhere in Europe in the spring. It could therefore be that it will be broadcast within a year, towards the end of 2024.
