Ewan Mitchell (Aemond Targaryen) looks back on his final fight in House of the Dragon

“I feel so bad about this. I'm having nightmares about it.”

Two years ago, the first season of House of the Dragon ended with an impressive and distressing cliffhanger. After the tragic and accidental death of Rhaenyra Targaryen's second son (Emma D'Arcy) killed by Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), the war between blacks and greens has never been closer to breaking out. Hearing the news from his uncle – and husband! –Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), Rhaenyra has only one idea in mind: revenge.

Did you know that the coronation scene of Aegon Targayren (Tom Glynn-Carney) lasted ten minutes and was filmed without interruption? So that with each misstep we had to start everything from the beginning?

While waiting to discover what season 2 has in store for us, the two Targaryen brothers, Ewan Mitchell and Tom Glynn-Carney, have colluded with three key scenes from the previous season. Spoiler alert!

Between the difficulty of fighting with an eyepatch for Mitchell and the weight of the crown that was pressed more and more on his head until it obscured his vision for Glynn-Carney, one of the anecdotes attracts attention.

While the dark Aemond demands justice from Lucerys (Elliot Grihault), the second son of Rhaenyra for the eye he lost as a child through his fault, the fight rages in the storm. In the rainy and misty sky, on the back of their dragon, the young people quarrel… to the death. Watching the scene again, the actor reveals a little filming secret:

“When we filmed that scene, when he (Aemond) has the rain machine in his face, the color on the eye patch ended up staining the wig.”

Then comes the fall of Lucerys as Aemond's dragon, Vhagar, disobeys him and violently attacks his enemy. The blond quickly understands the impact of his gesture. “I think that last look he has is brilliant. You can see a different side to him and I love it.” Does he have regrets? Possible. “I feel so bad about this. I have nightmares about it”he confides, looking at the camera, looking serious.

After the promotional video where each actor defended their side (Team Black VS Team Green), the HBO channel which produces the series continues its campaign in order to keep fans patient and arouse their curiosity.

The next season will not make any time jump and will begin where we left off. The death of the second son of Rhaenyra – Queen of the Blacks – is the spark that ignites the historical episode better known as the Dance of the Dragons. “Let’s wage war!” exclaims the king of the Greens, Aegon, with a cruel smile. A son for a son, the clans are formed and the battle promises to be disastrous and bloody. It will be led by fire and blood, with dragons and the dead – but also new faces.

In France, the release is scheduled for June 16 on Prime Video (via Warner Pass).
