Excluded – “Dune 2 is a monster, a much more muscular film”

Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Javier Bardem and Denis Villeneuve unveil the second part of Dune on the cover of the new issue of Première.

There are still quite a few sleeps left before Dune: Second part does not land on the screens. Initially scheduled for November 2023, the film will ultimately only be released on February 28, 2024 in France (just before the Americans) on the big screen. The adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel has been cut into two films due to length concerns. And the wait will be worth it, if we are to believe the entire film team, its director Denis Villeneuve to the band of stars, the duo Timothée Chalamet/Zendaya headlining, joined for this second opus by Austin Butler, Florence Pugh And Léa Seydoux

And to tease the release of the second part of Dune, we met not only Denis Villeneuve, but also Zendaya, Austin Butler, Javier Bardem and of course Timothée Chalamet, who all tell us about the excitement caused by this film which promises to be immense. And which starts immediately after the first. “There was no stopping: we started Dune 2 the day after the end of promotion for the first one!” explains Denis. “We pick up the film exactly where we left off the characters – two or three hours later, max! The two films were shot in continuity. We were a little tired… it was physically demanding. Electrifying but trying. C “Dune 2 is a monster, a much more muscular film…”

It is indeed a question of muscle gain, since Dune: Part Two comes out in theaters after the success of Wonka which established Timothée Chalamet as the lead. The actor explained to us that the film will show how Paul Atreides, his character goes from a tormented teenager, to becoming Muad’Dib, a charismatic warlord ready to exact his revenge on the Harkonnens: “In this new Dune, Paul is much more assured. In two films, we will have seen him go from young man to adult, then accept his destiny as a leader, his status as Muad’Dib. As an actor, I I had the rather rare chance to make these films over a long period. We shot the first part four years ago, so we inevitably see a form of maturity setting in on the screen. I changed between filming of the two Dune, that’s a fact.”
