Excluded – “It’s pretty crazy”: Matthew Vaughn talks to us about the Kick-Ass reboot
The director is currently working on the script for this new film, which should absolutely not resemble traditional superhero films.
What will the new look like? Kick-Ass ? In development for several years, the reboot of the franchise initiated by Matthew Vaughn in 2010 (a sequel by Jeff Wadlow saw the light of day three years later) will rise above other superhero films, promises us the director. Just over a month before the release ofArgylehis new film, Vaughn confides to First can not ” say too much, but we are writing the scenario at the moment and the concept totally captures what has happened since (the release of the first two Kick-Ass) in superhero cinema. »

He also explains to us: not knowing » if he will carry out this reboot of Kick-Ass : “ There is me and another person, whose name I will not give for the moment. My role is to develop films as if I were going to direct them, and then I decide whether or not I go behind the camera. In any case, we hope to be able to tour at the end of next year. »
For the moment the film does not have a release date, nor even a casting. Will Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloë Moretz return to play their characters? Or will Matthew Vaughn simply relegate them to supporting roles? “ I’m going to need some very brave actors and actresses to star in the new Kick-Assbecause we’re going to freak them out », assured the director of Kingsman end of 2021.
While waiting to know more, Argyle will be released in theaters on January 31, 2024, starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Dua Lipa and John Cena. The story of Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of bestselling spy novels, whose idea of happiness is a quiet evening at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie.
