EXCLUDED – We were on the set of the Wages of Fear remake

The new issue of Firston newsstands this Wednesday, contains a large file on Dune 2 (with exclusive interviews with Denis Villeneuve, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya…). But also an exclusive behind-the-scenes report on the filming of Wages of Fearthe remake directed by Julien Leclercq, for which we can also reveal the release date: March 29 on Netflix.

Excluded – “Dune 2 is a monster, a much more muscular film”

First went to the desert of Ouarzazate, where were filmed Star Wars Or Kingdom of Heavento take the pulse of this rereading of Henri-Georges Clouzot’s classic with Yves Montand and Charles Vanel, released 70 years ago.

An update provided by the director of Robberswith a nice quartet: Sofiane Zermani, Alban Lenoir, Franck Gastambide and Ana Girardotwho discovered a passion for action cinema: “I realized that I was sporty, that I loved shooting and driving hard in the desert!“.

“It’s not a remake, but rather a ‘wink’. We took the key concept from the 1953 film: a crew must drive two large trucks loaded with explosives to blow out a fire in a well of oil. Except that the slightest brake action can cause them to jump with the goods, explains Julien Leclercq, fed a bottle of film by his trucker father.

“The original is an absolute reference in terms of suspense. The direction is superb, but the film also has its lengths and a slightly dated mentality. We wanted to offer a 2.0 vision for a new generation of spectators: a film of muscular, explosive and tense action, American style!

The filmmaker promises a very ambitious film, with “more than 3000 shots, like in a blockbuster“, and we are now waiting to discover the first trailer for its Wages of Fear impatiently.
