Filming of the Blade Runner 2099 series will finally begin, with a new director

This is Jonathan van Tulleken, one of the directors of the Shogun series.

According to Deadlineseries Blade Runner 2099, currently in development at Prime Video, is undergoing director changes for its first two episodes. It is Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun) which will replace Jeremy Podeswa to the staging of the first two episodes. Seasoned director (he has worked for numerous HBO series including Game Of Thrones) Podeswa had to withdraw from the project due to incompatibility with the filming schedule.

This project is one of the many productions delayed or postponed following the impact of the historic writers’ and actors’ strike that shook Hollywood a few months ago. Scheduled to be filmed this summer in Belfast, the series has been postponed and filming is now scheduled for spring 2024, in April precisely. The same goes for its location which abandons the studios in Belfast for those in Prague.

The show is, among others, produced by Michael Greenthe screenwriter of Blade Runner 2049. The screenwriter Silka Luisa will be the shorwunnner of the program. Blade Runner 2099 is located, as its title indicates, in the universe of the cult film Ridley Scottfirst released in 1982. Currently there is no information on the release date of the series.
