The Wizard of Oz prequel Broadway version will be released in two parts in cinemas, in 2024 and 2025.

The common point between Dune And Wicked ? The cinema version was cut into two films. Wicked first part is scheduled for November 27, 2024 in France, and the second part will be released for Christmas 2025. And the first images of the first film have just been revealed on the occasion of the Super Bowl. This is the cinema adaptation of one of the biggest hits in the history of musicals, a prequel to Wizard of Oz (itself adapted from a 1995 novel reimagining the classic by L. Frank Baum), recounting the youth of the “Wicked Witch of the West” Elphaba before she became a real villain.

The music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz, one of the great names of Broadway who also composed the crazy songs of Hunchback of Notre Dame And The Prince of Egypt. And you may know the hit Wicked, “Defying Gravity”? It’s Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa in Snow Queenwho sang it for the first time on stage in 2003. Wicked cinema version is directed by Jon M. Chu (Sexy Dance 3D, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, In The Heights…), and brings together Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum.
