First trailer for Megalopolis, Francis Ford Coppola's final project

“A Roman epic in an imaginary modern America in full decadence”: in competition for the Palme d’Or, Megalopolis with Adam Driver is dedicated to Eleanor Coppola, who died last April.

Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my darling wife, Eleanor.”wrote Francis Ford Coppola on Instagram. “I was sincerely hoping to celebrate her birthday with her this May 4th. But, sadly, that can't happen, so let me give you this gift from her.” The gift is the trailer for Megalopolis : Coppola's first film since Twixt in 2011, a project dreamed of for 40 years and in which he invested part of his fortune.

This “fable”, as the subtitle indicates, is in competition for the Palme d'Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival which starts on May 14. Eleanor Coppola died on April 12. And here is the promised trailer:

Megalopolis does not yet have a release date, but the film has a French distributor (Le Pacte) and should arrive in our theaters this fall.
