Fixed/The Day the Earth Blew Up: Two unexpected cartoons from the year 2024

On the program: a dog condemned by Genndy Tartakovsky and the return of Looney Tunes.

Big animated films are planned for the year 2024, including Kung Fu Panda 4, Vice Versa 2 or The Lion King: Mufasa. But if we dig a little deeper, there are also more unexpected but very promising projects like the next feature film by Genndy Tartakovsky (Hotel Transylvania, Samurai Jack and the excellent series Primal), Fixed. The film presents itself as adult animation, trashy, vulgar and original.

Bull, a dog with no history, learns that he is going to be castrated the next day. He then decides to have one last adventure during the 24 hours he has left. “with his balls”, gently warns the synopis. The only image of the film already suggests its tone: the title coming “censor” the genitals of the poor doggie.

Genndy Tartakovsky has nothing left to prove in the field of adult animation. With his latest productions Primal And Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, he continues to amaze us. The film will be a 2D cartoon inspired by an old-fashioned style, characteristic of the director’s aesthetic.

Speaking of old school cartoons, 2024 will mark the comeback of Looney Tunes. After Space Jam: New Era in 2021, where Lebron James replaced Michael Jordan, the new Tunes film will be entirely animated in 2D. The film is called The Day the Earth Blew Up and will tell the story of how Daffy Duck and Porky Pig are Earth’s last hopes in the face of an alien invasion. Peter Browngardt (Adventuretime) will be responsible for the implementation.

For cartoon fans, 2024 should be a great year with these two films. They don’t yet have an official release date, but that will give the curious time to discover the work of Genndy Tartakovsky and the nostalgic to rewatch the old Looney Tunes cartoons!
