Thanks to 395,036 more spectators traveling to 626 cinemas in France, wish maintains itself tops the French box office and crossed the million admissions mark in two weeks. No record yet for Disney’s animated Christmas film, but the school holidays haven’t started yet!

If it loses around a third of its audience this week (like its competitors, between -26% for Perfect Days and -41% for Napoleon), its attendance should logically increase once the end-of-year festivities have officially launched.

In front of wishmore by Hayao Miyazaki, The Boy and the Heron falling to 12th position – but having become the filmmaker’s biggest success here. A competing animated production offered in 640 theaters, Migrationis no match: this family story designed by Illumination (Minions, Super Mario Bros.) intrigued 266,863 curious people at the start.

However, this is the best score for new releases of the week, since the film takes second position in the top. Suddenly aloneby Thomas Bidegain, starts in sixth place, followed by Merry Christmaswith Franck Dubosc, and Building 5by Ladj Ly.

THE “survival” with Mélanie Thierry and Gilles Lellouche records a start similar to the first production of its creator, The Cowboys, in 2015. With a great reputation, it attracted 114,382 curious people in 7 days, then around 230,000 in all. The French comedy of the season has barely passed the 100,000 mark exchanged, and the drama of Ladj Ly begins less well than Wretched, at 88,788 tickets vs. 559,378 in 2019 (and 2.1 million entries at the end of the race).

Among the continuities, we can note the good health of Napoleon, which, with 1.3 million entries recorded in three weeks, including 226,566 in the last 7 days, has already entered Ridley Scott’s top 10 in France. In all, thirteen films by the British filmmaker have crossed this symbolic bar. Gladiator is its biggest hit since 2000, with 4.7 million entries, then 1492 has 3 million, whileAlien, Hannibal, Alone on Mars, Robin Hood And Blade Runner recorded 2 million each. This biopic led by Joaquin Phoenix should logically double Exodus and its million and a half spectators, even Prometheus (1.8 million people displaced in French cinemas in 2012).
