Game of Thrones: the new series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be released “late 2025”

The adventures of Dunk & Egg are already set by HBO.

Life goes on in Westeros. A third series Game Of Thrones is coming soon, between the broadcast of season 2 (scheduled for summer 2024) and season 3 of House of the Dragon (not yet officially announced).

The boss of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, announced to shareholders this week that the spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is planned for release “end of 2025“.

This prequel officially announced in April 2023 will therefore soon launch its production and casting. It is written and produced by George RR Martin and Ira Parker.

“A century before the events of Game Of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros: a naive but courageous young knight, Ser Duncan the Great (aka Dunk) and his little squire, Egg. Set in a time when the Targaryen line still held the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon had not yet faded from the memory of the living, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits awaited all of these unlikely friends and incomparable.”

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will concretely be the adaptation of the ancillary novels by George RR Martin, published in French from 1998 under the title Le Chevalier errant. We follow the adventures of Ser Duncan and his squire Aegon V Targaryen (known as “the Egg”). Martin published three stories under the Tales of Dunk and Egg label: “The Hedge Knight” in 1998, “The Sworn Sword” in 2003, and “The Mystery Knight” in 2010. The three stories were later collected and published together under the title “ A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” in 2015, which will therefore be the title of the HBO series.
