George Romero’s final posthumous zombie movie is set to begin filming

Twilight of the Dead was written by the filmmaker shortly before his death.

Long before The Walking Dead Or All of Us are Deadthe zombie specialist was called George A. Romero. The filmmaker who died of cancer in 2017 had become the great specialist of the genre since 1968 and Night of the Living Dead (Night of the Living Dead). A great classic of horror cinema that spawned a decades-long franchise, until The Vestige of the Living Dead (Survival of the Dead) in 2009, the last film directed by Romero before his death.

But the filmmaker still had time to write one last zombie epic before leaving: Twilight of the Dead, conclusion of his epic saga, will come to fruition. The rights holders of George A. Romero will partner with the production company Roundtable to bring to fruition a film whose script was completed by Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas and Paolo Zelati, who had first worked on it in collaboration with Romero before his death.

According to Deadline, filming for the film is set to begin in late 2023 in Puerto Rico.

Seventh installment in the franchise of george romero, Twilight of the Deadwill delve into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on earth who are caught between factions of the undead. It will be subtext of a socio-political commentary wrapped in a genre work“.

No director has yet been chosen, nor any name in the casting. The film is also awaiting a release date.
