Gladiator 2 starts filming again, but the sets are damaged
Ridley Scott will already restart production in Malta, in the wake of the strike.
End of the strike in Hollywood. Filming can resume, starting with that of Gladiator 2. Ridley Scott will immediately restart production of his sequel in Malta. And time is running out. Because the sets were somewhat damaged during the long break and they must be reworked before we can start filming again.
The filming of Gladiator 2 initially started in June 2023 and was scheduled to last 4 months. But production was stopped by the strike on July 14. So there are still 3 months of filming left.
Variety explains that Gladiator 2 will resume in Malta in this gigantic outdoor setting, built to simulate ancient Rome and including a life-size Colosseum. A decor which has deteriorated since July 14, in particular due to the weather conditions. “It will need a lot of touch-ups“, advances Variety.
Gladiator 2 is scheduled for November 22, 2024 in theaters. Connie Nielsen will return to play the sister of Commodus and former mistress of the hero played by Russell Crowe. And it’s Paul Mescal who will play the fruit of their love.
