Guillaume Labbé tells us about the sex scenes of Escort Boys
“I really have the feeling of having given something very intimate. It’s dizzying. And it’s also enjoyable.”
The least we can say is thatEscort Boys don’t hide behind your little finger. The series tells how four Camargue people with no future decide to become gigolos. To save the family estate from ruin; Ben, Ludo, Mathias and Zack give of their bodies. And the actors too. Star of Heart Plan and of I promise you, Guillaume Labbé did not hesitate – like his comrades – to lay himself bare, in every sense of the word, in front of the camera Ruben Alves.
Because there are sometimes very crude sex sequences in Escort Boys. “But I’m pretty comfortable with it“, smiles Guillaume Labbé, interviewed by Première. The actor explains to us that he approached “these sequences as I approach sequences of strong emotions, scenes of anger for example. You have to be confident in these kinds of moments on set, because these are scenes where you see the actor through the character. You see a part of me there… It’s something very intimate.”
Guillaume Labbé remembers, for example, this torrid sequence between Ben and his ex, in the wine cellar of her husband’s restaurant. A particularly intense moment for the two actors: “There is this scene with Fleur Copin, where, for 4 or 5 minutes, we film a truly intimate experience! And when Ruben says “cut”, I really feel like I’ve given something very intimate. It’s dizzying and it’s also enjoyable to experience as an actor.”.
As in the United States, intimacy coordinators have appeared on French sets in recent years. So that all the members of a cast feel comfortable with these love scenes, sometimes very sexy. But there was none on Escort Boys. “They asked us if we wanted an intimacy coordinator. But no actress asked for one”the actor confides to us, justifying: “Because we spoke before. We told each other what we had the right to do to each other, how far we could go. We have marked these sequences as much as possible. Afterwards, it was harder with the actresses who came on a reduced schedule, to play the client for a day. There, we had to connect from morning makeup, exchange, make an effort to tie something together before filming these scenes…”
Guillaume Labbé thus appears in the series in the simplest device, displaying full screen a tailor-made body, which he worked on purpose to be a Escort Boy of ordinary Camargue. Well almost. “Depending on the projects, I can be more or less thick. But here, I was very careful and I asked Ruben, a few months before, how he wanted me to be physically. He told me not to especially not do Magic Mike. On the other hand, you had to be sexyy”. The star therefore followed a very specific diet to lose weight: “I stopped sugar. Completely. I had never done that and it made me crazy dry! And then I do a lot of sport, naturally…”
No shame in showing yourself naked. Guillaume Labbé admits to being “quite comfortable“with his body.”Afterwards, that can also be a problem… When I did The School of Life, for France 2, I arrived on set with a muscular body. Now, there was no reason for my history teacher to be stupid like that! The body must be in line with what you are saying…”
